Ho Chi Minh City has established an interagency task force to promote the artificial intelligence (AI) data center project at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a decision by the Ho Chi Minh City People\u2019s Committee, the task force is headed by Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, with the Department serving as the standing agency. The establishment of the task force aims to accelerate the AI data center project at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park (Cu Chi commune), an area designated for high technology, digital infrastructure, and data services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The task force comprises 15 members, including representatives from relevant departments, agencies, and enterprises such as Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation, Accelerated Infrastructure Capital (AIC \u2013 a data center infrastructure investor), and Saigon Northwest Urban Development JSC (the infrastructure developer of Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, where the project will be implemented).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ho Chi Minh City People\u2019s Committee has tasked the group with coordinating across agencies to speed up project implementation and proactively address issues within its authority; matters beyond its authority will be consolidated and reported to the city for consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previously, in November in London (UK), Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation, together with Accelerated Infrastructure Capital (AIC) and VietinBank, announced cooperation to develop an AI data center complex named the SGI-HCM Campus at the industrial park. The project has a designed capacity of 200 MW IT Load and is oriented to become a large-scale AI data center complex in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the plan, the center could operate around 100,000 GPUs in the coming years, serving large-scale computing demands for artificial intelligence, big data, and next-generation cloud computing. The total expected investment is nearly USD 2 billion, mobilized from equity and commercial loans, with participating investors contributing equity capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project will be developed on approximately 10 hectares of land within Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, which is assessed to have advantages in power connectivity, telecommunications, and logistics, meeting the standards for large-scale data centers. Once completed, the center is expected to add strategic computing infrastructure for Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the development of the AI ecosystem, the digital economy, and the attraction of high-tech investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to this project, Ho Chi Minh City is seeing strong interest from multiple investors in building large-scale data centers to serve AI and the digital economy. Notably, G42 plans to invest USD 2 billion to build an AI hyperscale data center in the city. Domestically, CMC has broken ground on the USD 250 million Hyperscale Data Center SHTP, while Viettel is developing a 140 MW data center in Cu Chi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
