Along with the strong development of artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and other emerging technologies, Vietnam is gradually transforming into a dynamic digital economy. This is where all data \u2013 from customer information, manufacturing data, medical data to complex AI algorithms \u2013 is stored and secured. Major domestic providers such as Viettel, VNPT, FPT, CMC have invested in building centers that meet international standards Tier III, Tier IV, providing services from storage to cloud computing for thousands of businesses.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-1d70eb920350ec0dfe4672b5cc3e0289\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">In addition, many international investors have shown special interest in the Vietnamese data center market. Corporations such as NTT (Japan), Gaw Capital (Hong Kong), or Amazon Web Services (USA) are in the process of surveying, building or announcing plans to expand data centers in Vietnam in the next few years. The entry of these \"giants\" shows the great potential of the market, and at the same time, it also requires improving domestic competitiveness.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-28e54290c68208090a8adf578c167eb3\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">According to many market reports, the size of Vietnam's data center industry could reach 1 billion USD by 2025, with an average growth rate of about 12-15% per year. The main driving force comes from the growing demand for data storage from fields such as banking, education, e-commerce, healthcare and especially artificial intelligence.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-1fb09e106751df6be82bc9028bc4165a\" style=\"color:#060673\"><strong>National digital transformation and the fundamental role of data centers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-a3b0540172eb7082f02f036c1304ae7b\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">The Vietnamese government has issued a National Digital Transformation Program, which emphasizes three main pillars: digital government, digital economy and digital society. In all three pillars, data centers play a key role. If the digital economy is considered a living organism, then the data center is the heart that pumps blood \u2013 where all data flows are processed, distributed and stored.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-0c4da02094aec997d066b31e87894b70\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">A country cannot be digitally sovereign without its own data infrastructure. Relying on foreign data centers not only increases costs, but also poses risks to security, privacy, and data control. Therefore, developing domestic data centers \u2013 especially those that meet international standards \u2013 is a strategic priority.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-d22271789201d31e2e07759a11d2053f\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">At the same time, Vietnam is also in the process of building an AI ecosystem and large digital platforms. New generation data centers, capable of processing huge amounts of data, supporting GPUs and machine learning models, will be a must for developing core technologies, from medical AI, traffic AI to smart city applications.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-d7073779f4840c92264239b8841ac887\" style=\"color:#060673\"><strong>Opportunities and challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-87864463f872c2d95d519f9c9079e127\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">Vietnam has many advantages to develop the data center industry. For example, the Digital Connect Hub (DCH) project in Ba Ria \u2013 Vung Tau \u2013 an AI-integrated data center with a scale of hundreds of millions of USD \u2013 is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. This could become a model for building suburban data centers, taking advantage of large land funds, stable power infrastructure and long-term scalability.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-2ab1a6a2bffe15395a65b31b63b9d563\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">However, the challenges are not small. The initial investment cost is very high, requiring high technology, strict standards on operation, safety and security. In addition, human resources with specialized skills in the field of data centers in Vietnam are still limited, especially in Tier III\/IV infrastructure management, optimal cooling system operation, and specialized equipment maintenance.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-d5623dadbee9320128a928d41410eaa0\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">Another issue is the ability to provide stable electricity \u2013 a vital factor for data centers. In the context of increasing electricity demand, Vietnam needs to ensure a long-term and sustainable energy strategy, combining traditional and renewable energy sources to meet the standards of \u201cgreening\u201d data infrastructure \u2013 a global trend.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-e61feb0a351304a0c10e2894c910f3c2\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\"><strong>To build a true digital economy, Vietnam needs to invest properly in data infrastructure, of which data centers are the core element. Developing data centers is not simply about building \u201cdata warehouses\u201d, but about creating a foundation for developing AI, edge computing, cloud computing, as well as other value-added services in the future.<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-2f76359003b191c4878828eed873046a\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size translation-block\" style=\"color:#060673\">S<strong>trong investment, long-term vision and synchronous coordination between the State \u2013 enterprises \u2013 investors will be the key to making Vietnam a digital data transit center of Southeast Asia.
