SDH technology allows low-speed data streams to be combined with high-speed data streams. In addition, because the entire network operates synchronously, users can easily embed and extract individual bit streams from high-speed data streams.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-829b11e0f26e2a53ebecdd9ff4731fdb\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size translation-block\" style=\"color:#060673\">SDH is the <strong>International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T)<\/strong>'s version of the <strong>SONET (Synchronous Optical Network)<\/strong> standard. Both technologies provide faster and more cost-effective networking than traditional <strong>Parasynchronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH)<\/strong> equipment.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-7ae688e15564ea93daed87fff8f7c195\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size translation-block\" style=\"color:#060673\">SDH is used in transmission systems of the <strong>Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN)<\/strong>, transporting <strong>ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode)<\/strong> signals, <strong>Ethernet<\/strong> signals, <strong>PDH<\/strong> signals, <strong>storage area network (SAN)<\/strong> signals, and other communications signals.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-fc88307fb5aec6e9404aa320225670bc\" style=\"color:#060673\"><p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#060673\">SDH technology was developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s to replace PDH technology. The main goal was to eliminate potential synchronization problems in large data transmission and voice exchanges.
