Vietnam is increasingly affirming its position as a dynamic Technology Center of the Region and a key hub in the Global Supply Chain…

Currently, Vietnam ranks second and fifth globally in exporting smartphones and computers. The semiconductor industry alone is expected to surpass the $18 billion mark by 2024 (according to SEMI). The manufacturing and construction sectors continue to lead the country’s economic growth, with 17.4 million workers and accounting for 33.4% of total employment nationwide (according to GSO).
In addition, Vietnam's National Strategy for Digital Economy and Digital Society Development aims to turn the country into a regional IT and cybersecurity center by 2030, prioritizing the development of AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, high-speed internet, green data centers, specialized IT parks, etc.
GITEX – the world’s largest and most highly regarded technology exhibition brand recently announced its expansion into the Vietnamese market, promising to bring Vietnam’s rapidly growing technology ecosystem into a new era of vibrant global cooperation and innovation.
Organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and KAOUN International in collaboration with the Vietnam National Innovation Centre (NIC), GITEX VIETNAM will take place for the first time in Hanoi from October 1 to 2, 2026.
This strategic partnership, facilitated by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), marks a new chapter in GITEX’s global expansion journey and is a key event in Vietnam’s National Innovation Week, aiming to boost the national ecosystem to achieve the goal of a $200 billion digital economy by 2030.
GITEX continues to provide unprecedented access to new markets, capital, talent, partnerships and growth opportunities – values that only the world's largest technology exhibition brand can deliver.
With a reputation spanning over 45 years, GITEX has become a symbol of international connection and global expansion, and is present in seven countries and four regions, including Germany, Morocco, Nigeria, Singapore, Thailand, UAE and most recently, Vietnam.
The announcement, made after the conclusion of GITEX ASIA x Ai Everything Singapore last week, follows recent joint statements between Vietnam and the UAE on launching negotiations to establish a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations.
As GITEX’s global technology ecosystem converges to foster groundbreaking collaborations, the first edition in Vietnam is expected to highlight the enormous potential of the S-shaped country to the global community, opening up digital transformation investment opportunities, fostering new partnerships and accelerating the global reach of the Vietnamese technology ecosystem.
Alongside global technology companies, thought leaders, policymakers, startups and investors, the event will discuss the urgent changes shaping the next generation of technological innovation – from the startup economy, semiconductors, Industry 5.0, advanced manufacturing to artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), DevOps, cybersecurity and talent development.
Ms. Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of DWTC and CEO of KAOUN International, shared: “GITEX VIETNAM will be an important milestone in the digital transformation of Vietnam and emerging economies in Southeast Asia”.
At the same time, the event highlighted and elevated the value of achievements, progressive policies, human resources, developing infrastructure and the growing aspirations of a young economy to the world.
“Through this, we expect GITEX Vietnam to open a new wave of business cooperation between governments and the private sector globally, putting the dynamic and dynamic ecosystems in the region – which are not yet fully known to the world – on the international technology map. I believe that the technology world will receive many interesting surprises from GITEX VIETNAM”, Ms. Trixie LohMirmand shared.
“The announcement of GITEX’s arrival in Vietnam is a watershed moment for the country’s digital technology, innovation and investment ecosystem – and a defining moment for the Southeast Asian region,” said Ms. Kim Ngoc Thanh Nga, Deputy Director of NIC.
Having successfully bridged the digital divide and shaped global technology trends, GITEX’s expansion into Vietnam will undoubtedly be a powerful catalyst for socio-economic development at the local, regional and international levels. “We are embracing a unique opportunity to build a future based on innovation, collaboration and global connectivity,” said Ms. Nga.
According to Mr. Jalil Rasheed, Managing Director of TBI Asia-Pacific, commented: “The partnership between Dubai World Trade Center/KAOUN International Group and NIC is a key factor in connecting the global innovation ecosystem with Vietnam through GITEX.
TBI is playing a catalytic role in this collaboration, demonstrating its commitment to leveraging technology to create real impact. “This partnership is not only important for emerging markets like Vietnam, but also contributes to the bilateral relationship between the UAE and Vietnam,” said Jalil Rasheed.
