On 2024 Dec 5th, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working session with Mr. Jensen Huang, founder and Chairman of Nvidia Corporation, and witnessed the signing ceremony of an agreement between the Vietnamese Government and Nvidia Corporation on cooperation in establishing the AI Research and Development Center (VRDC) and the AI Data Center in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the Cooperation Agreement between NVIDIA and the Vietnamese Government, signed just over 1 year after the Prime Minister visited NVIDIA in the United States (September 2023), is an important milestone demonstrating the determination and strong commitment of Chairman Jensen Huang in turning Vietnam into "NVIDIA's second home".
In the future, the Prime Minister proposed that the two sides cooperate in researching and developing AI to create a new production force based on Vietnamese AI with the cooperation of Nvidia and proposed some specific directions.
Accordingly, Nvidia continues to advise Vietnam to develop this field in accordance with the trend of the times and the conditions, circumstances, and cultural and historical traditions of Vietnam; cooperate in developing AI infrastructure; cooperate in developing AI to exploit underground space, sea space, and outer space; cooperate in promoting the startup movement, innovation, especially inspiring the young generation...
The Prime Minister asked Nvidia Corporation to continue to closely coordinate with the National Innovation Center, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, leading technology enterprises and leading technical universities in Vietnam.
Accordingly, the Vietnamese Government commits to creating the most favorable conditions for the effective implementation of cooperation contents between the two sides, bringing practical benefits to both sides in the spirit of "harmonious benefits, shared risks", "listening and understanding together; sharing vision and action together; working together, winning together, developing businesses and developing the country together; enjoying joy, happiness and pride together".
On Nvidia's side, Chairman Jensen Huang affirmed that AI is a new technology that is changing the data of all countries. Data must be considered a national resource, Vietnam needs to process its own data and turn this data into Vietnamese AI, for Vietnamese industries and society.
“Our collaborative efforts are helping us build a strong AI future for Vietnam. Vietnam’s strong encouragement and support for this field will be a big boost to building an AI ecosystem for Vietnam. Nvidia and I will be your partners and friends on every step, every journey of AI,” said Mr. Jensen Huang.
Currently, more than 48 thousand engineers in the Nvida ecosystem, nearly 100 artificial intelligence enterprises, and 36 universities are cooperating with Nvidia.
According to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, the agreement is an important milestone for Vietnam to become Asia's leading AI research and development center, creating breakthroughs for key technology industries.
In particular, Viettel's AI Data Center using technologies provided by NVIDIA will be an important platform to promote research and development of advanced AI technologies in Vietnam.
Nvidia's support in the field of AI will help Vietnam not only achieve its development goals in the high-tech industry in general and the AI field in particular, but also contribute to promoting the entire Southeast Asia region to become a destination for innovation.
“We are very honored and proud to accompany NVIDIA on this journey and believe that the cooperation will not only help Vietnam improve its technology research and development capacity, but also build a bright future for the AI industry in the Asian region.”, the Minister said.
