The Vietnamese data center market is projected to reach USD 1.6 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10–12%, opening significant opportunities for businesses.
Data centers serve as the “backbone” for storing, processing, and analyzing the massive volumes of data generated by e-government, fintech, e-commerce, and more. For this reason, many data centers have been built in recent years to support the Government’s and citizens’ digital transformation journey.

On August 20, FPT Group inaugurated and officially put into operation the FPT Fornix HCM02 Data Center at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in Ho Chi Minh City. This is one of the largest data centers in Vietnam, featuring eight floors and a total usable area of 10,000 m², with a capacity of up to 3,600 racks.
The facility allows for uninterrupted maintenance and ensures stable operations — a crucial factor for businesses in sectors such as banking, e-commerce, logistics, and national digital transformation projects, where IT systems cannot afford downtime, even for a few seconds.
To date, FPT owns four major data centers located in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City: FPT Fornix HN01, FPT Fornix HN02, FPT Fornix HCM01, and FPT Fornix HCM02, with a total area of over 17,000 m² and capacity of more than 7,000 racks.
Mr. Tran Hai Duong, Chairman and CEO of FPT Telecom International, stated that the FPT Fornix HCM02 Data Center will serve as a critical infrastructure foundation for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and Digital Transformation platforms. This new data center will contribute to Vietnam’s ambition of becoming the Digital Hub of Southeast Asia by 2030.
According to Mr. Duong, the world is experiencing a data revolution. As digital transformation becomes a core driver of economic growth, the demand for data storage, processing, and security is rising sharply — especially under the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Generative AI.
“The growth of high-performance, energy-intensive computing models is accelerating global demand for data infrastructure expansion,” Mr. Duong said.
He also emphasized that, as data becomes a strategic national resource, investing in domestic data infrastructure is a prerequisite for ensuring digital sovereignty. As a pioneer in digital infrastructure, FPT is committed to working with government agencies to build a secure data ecosystem that strengthens cybersecurity and safeguards national information.
In addition to FPT, another technology giant, Viettel, is aggressively building new data centers.
Viettel is currently constructing a nearly 40,000 m² data center at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh City. This hyperscale project is comparable to some of the world’s largest data centers, with a capacity of over 100 MW and approximately 10,000 racks. The first phase is expected to be completed and operational by Q1 2026, with the entire project slated for completion before 2030. Viettel already operates 15 data centers across Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
VNPT is also actively participating in this race, operating eight data centers in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. VNPT’s largest facility is located in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hanoi, with a scale of 2,000 racks.
According to Data Center Map, Vietnam currently has about 29 data centers. The rapid construction of new facilities is being driven by surging data demand and digital transformation efforts. The data center market offers fast growth, long-term competitive advantages, and strong appeal to major international corporations.
Leading global tech giants such as Google, Amazon, and Alibaba have also outlined business plans for the Vietnamese market, attracted by its double-digit growth rates in recent years.
A report by Mordor Intelligence estimates that Vietnam’s data center capacity will reach nearly 525 MW in 2025 and exceed 950 MW by 2030, representing a CAGR of more than 12.6%.
ResearchAndMarkets projects that Vietnam’s data center market will reach USD 1.6 billion by 2030, with a CAGR of around 10–12% per year — a major opportunity for businesses that can capture this momentum.
Technology experts in Ho Chi Minh City emphasize that data centers play a crucial role in the country’s digital transformation. Locally hosted data centers help ensure cybersecurity and compliance with citizen data storage regulations — a strategic factor in safeguarding national data.
Moreover, core technologies such as AI, Big Data, IoT, and Cloud all rely on the powerful computational infrastructure provided by data centers. Without them, smart city management systems, insurance platforms, healthcare IT solutions, or even a Vietnamese version of ChatGPT would not be possible.
Experts also note that data center revenues come from a diverse range of customer groups — including government agencies, ministries, local authorities, banks, securities firms, fintech companies, e-commerce platforms, and tech startups. The demand for data center services from organizations and enterprises is enormous.
