In the development strategy of the Digital Hub Data Center in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, DCH Group clearly identifies: international connection infrastructure is the vital factor that determines the competitiveness, service scale and influence of this center in the Asia - Pacific region. Therefore, in parallel with investing in the construction of a modern data center infrastructure, DCH is urgently completing the legal documents to submit to the Central Ministries, Departments and Branches for approval to deploy three international submarine optical cable lines and two North - South optical cable lines, to ensure superior connectivity capacity and long-term sustainability.

1. Three international submarine fiber optic cables – expanding global connectivity from Vung Tau
Located in the coastal area of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the Digital Hub is planned as a “strategic intersection” for data, with international submarine cables connecting directly to major technology and financial centers in the Asia region. Specifically, three submarine cables are in the preparation stage for deployment, including:
Submarine Cable Line No. 1: Vung Tau - Japan
This cable line targets the Japanese market - one of the leading countries in technology, finance and innovation. With this connection, Digital Hub can serve Japanese business customers in data storage, AI platform deployment, IoT and cross-border digital services with extremely low latency.
Submarine Cable Line No. 2: Vung Tau - Singapore
Singapore is currently the second largest data center in Asia (after China), with a key role in the global internet network. Direct connection with Singapore not only helps Vietnam reduce its dependence on current cables that are often interrupted, but also creates conditions for Digital Hub to participate in the regional data transit network, thereby improving its competitiveness compared to other data centers in the region.
Submarine Cable Line 3: Vung Tau – Malaysia
Malaysia is emerging as a potential alternative destination in the data center sector thanks to its supportive policies and reasonable operating costs. The direct connection from Vung Tau to Malaysia helps expand the ability to serve international customers, while increasing reliability and diversifying transmission lines.
All three cables are designed to integrate the latest transmission technology, with high bandwidth, low latency and international security. When completed, the system will help turn Vietnam – through the Digital Hub – into a key connection point in the global digital infrastructure chain.
2. Hai tuyến cáp quang trục Bắc – Nam – kết nối nội địa và các cữa ngõ quốc tế
In addition to international connections, DCH is also deploying two North-South optical cable lines along the length of the country. The highlight is that these two cable lines are designed to connect to international border gateways in China, Laos and Cambodia, to create a transcontinental data connection corridor and enhance the ability to exchange information with neighboring countries.
In addition to international connections, DCH is also deploying two North-South optical cable lines along the length of the country. The highlight is that these two cable lines are designed to connect to international border gateways in China, Laos and Cambodia, in order to create a transcontinental data connection corridor and enhance the ability to exchange information with neighboring countries. The backbone will play the role of Vietnam's data backbone, ensuring stability, smoothness and high reliability in connecting the Digital Hub with major cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City as well as international destinations through border gates.
Connecting to China – the world’s second largest economy – through a separate infrastructure will give Digital Hub a significant competitive advantage in providing data storage and processing services to cross-border businesses.
Moreover, this is also an important preparation step for Vietnam to actively participate in regional initiatives such as the “ASEAN-China Digital Economic Corridor”, “Mekong Digital Connection” and technology cooperation models in the Mekong sub-region.
3. Fiber optic infrastructure – strategic data transmission platform for Digital Hub
Although the above mentioned fiber optic cables can be exploited to provide traditional telecommunications services such as internet, IP telephony, OTT television..., the core mission and long-term strategy of this infrastructure system is to directly serve the data transmission and storage activities of the Digital Hub Center.
Digital Hub is not simply a traditional data center, but is designed as a modern digital infrastructure ecosystem, integrating services:
- Data storage (colocation, object storage),
- Cloud computing,
- Big data analytics,
- Infrastructure for AI, machine learning and large language modeling (LLM),
- Platform connecting global partners and organizations through the interconnection platform.
For the above functions to operate effectively, international and domestic fiber optic infrastructure needs to have absolute reliability, high capacity and flexible scalability. Proactively developing its own infrastructure helps DCH control the entire value chain - from physical to service, thereby improving quality, reducing operating costs, and creating a clear competitive advantage compared to data centers that depend on external infrastructure providers.
The investment in the synchronous development of the international submarine cable system and the North-South land axis not only supports the operation of the Digital Hub, but is also a strategic step to affirm DCH's pioneering role in shaping the national digital infrastructure. When these cable lines come into operation, they will help turn the Digital Hub into the "heart" of the regional data network, opening up great opportunities for Vietnam to become a data transit point, attract investment and maximize the potential of the digital economy in the next decade.
